The Doors return to the source on Morrison Hotel — stripped back, locked in, and all bite.

Released in 1970, this is the sound of the band rediscovering their blues roots after the more experimental detours of their previous records. Gone are the extended psychedelics and studio indulgences — in their place, a leaner, meaner groove built on swagger, grit, and groove.

Jim Morrison is front and centre here — raw, charismatic, and fully in command. His voice prowls through these songs with a renewed sense of purpose, equal parts menace and magnetism.

Behind him, the band are firing as a unit. Robby Krieger’s guitar cuts sharp, Ray Manzarek’s keys pulse and shimmer, and John Densmore keeps everything tight and driving.

From the explosive opener Roadhouse Blues to the slow-burn confidence of Peace Frog and the dark, hypnotic pull of The Spy, Morrison Hotel feels alive — immediate, unfiltered, and deeply rooted in rock and roll tradition.

It’s The Doors with their sleeves rolled up. No tricks. Just the sound of a band doing what they do best.
