By 1994, Prince had changed his name to the unpronouncable [Love Symbol] that was the name and on the cover of his previous album the year before. His relationship with lifelong label Warner Bros. Records was on the rocks, and Come was just one of several albums that Prince delivered in quick succession to release himself from his contractual commitments. It's not rubbish though, even if there is a lack of surefire "hits". It's a raw and quite explicit funk record with songs like 'Space', 'Race', 'Loose' and its single 'Letitgo' remaining strong highlights of Prince 1990's cannon, a phase which should never be compared to the artist's '80's output. Isolate it, marvel at the world's greatest artist of all-time defying not only his label, but all expectations.
Despite a lack of support from The Artist, Come reached Number One in the UK.
