Originally released in 1970, The Man Who Sold The World stands as David Bowie’s third album and a crucial turning point in his career. It marked the beginning of his collaboration with guitarist Mick Ronson, a partnership that would go on to define a remarkable run of albums including Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and Aladdin Sane. Darker, heavier, and more exploratory than Bowie’s earlier work, the album laid the groundwork for the decade of innovation that followed, stretching through to Scary Monsters in 1980.
This 50th anniversary edition is presented as a picture disc vinyl, featuring the 1972 RCA reissue sleeve artwork and the 2015 remastered audio of the original album. A striking and collectible edition of a record that bridges Bowie’s late-60s folk leanings with the hard-edged, theatrical future he was about to unlock.
