The rain-soaked romanticism. The late-night storytelling. The unmistakable voice of Adam Duritz painting pictures in blue and amber. As important and commercially successful as any other album from the 1990's, August and Everything After (1993) isn’t just a debut — it’s a diary set to melody, full of longing, poetry, and open-road Americana.

Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album captures a band caught between raw nerves and radio gold. From the timeless ache of ‘Round Here’ and the wistful singalong of ‘Mr. Jones’ to the melancholic grace of ‘Raining in Baltimore,’ this record became the heartbeat of ’90s alternative rock — equal parts folk confession and cinematic sprawl.

Before their career was tainted by that Joni Mitchell cover and those Shrek songs, there was August and Everything After and, on vinyl, shines brighter than ever: warm, wistful, and wonderfully human.
