Sharon Van Etten’s 2012 LP ‘Tramp’ has it all. It starts with a stirring, grungy rocker ‘Warsaw’ and closes with the Julia Holter/Angel Olsen-esque hymnal ‘Joke Or A Lie’. Between these poles it takes in widescreen indie of the Broken Social Scene school (‘I’m Wrong’), hearty slowcore (‘All I Can’) and stormy folk balladry (quite a few). Zach Condon (Beirut), Julianna Barwick, Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak) and Aaron Dessner (The National) all pitch in at various points.
