Over the past six years Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn’s alias Sleaford Mods has become one of the most confounding British pop stories. Making a name for themselves by editing down national moods with one singular catchphrase, few musicians got closer to defining the last decade of British life than they did in the title of their 2014 album, Divide and Exit. Against a backcloth of feverish political affiliation shifts Sleaford Mods have stayed immutable, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson broadsided in last year’s UK Top 10 album, Eton Alive.
 
Sleaford Mods are the only band in Britain you could comfortably stick a sweat-soaked performance in front of random crowds and count upon mass conversion. Their music is drawn at a flawless fault-line of anger, tenderness and humour, a triumvirate of raw energy. The brute force of their live show sees incendiary frontman Jason Williamson’s idiosyncratic showmanship softened by the humour of producer Andrew Fearn’s finger-tapping ennui, and has helped Sleaford Mods to spread largely via word of mouth, culminating in a sold-out show at London’s 5,000 capacity Hammersmith Apollo Theatre last November.
