Manchester four-piece Westside Cowboy have announced their first Australian tour, bringing their wonderfully unvarnished take on indie rock to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in March 2027. Presented by Frontier Touring and Penny Drop, the headline dates follow a previously announced appearance at Golden Plains Festival and arrive during a remarkable period of momentum for one of Britain's most exciting emerging bands.

The announcement comes just two months after the release of their debut album, *It Goes On*, a record that's quickly established the quartet as serious contenders in a particularly fertile period for British guitar music. Across eleven songs and a wonderfully economical 35 minutes, Westside Cowboy deliver a spirited collision of ragged guitars, infectious melodies and songwriting that feels instinctive rather than calculated. It's music that draws from familiar places while remaining refreshingly difficult to pin down.

Recorded with producer Loren Humphrey, whose credits include Geese, Cameron Winter and Wunderhorse, *It Goes On* has earned considerable acclaim, with comparisons ranging from The Velvet Underground and Courtney Barnett to Parquet Courts. Those reference points offer some indication of the band's musical vocabulary, although much of their appeal lies in how effortlessly they make those influences their own.

Formed in Manchester in 2023, Westside Cowboy comprise Jimmy Bradbury on vocals and guitar, Reuben Haycocks on vocals and guitar, Aoife Anson O'Connell on vocals and bass, and Paddy Murphy on drums. Their creative approach has always favoured immediacy over unnecessary complication, with the band building a reputation for tightly constructed songs that leave plenty of room for spontaneity.

That relatively straightforward philosophy has served them extraordinarily well. Since forming, Westside Cowboy have won Glastonbury's Emerging Talent Competition, performed on *Later... with Jools Holland* and *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon*, and toured alongside Geese and Black Country, New Road. A forthcoming North American run with Fontaines D.C. offers another indication of just how quickly their reputation is spreading beyond the UK.

There's something particularly appealing about Westside Cowboy's position within this new generation of guitar bands. While much of contemporary indie rock has become increasingly elaborate in its arrangements and presentation, their music celebrates the uncomplicated pleasure of four musicians finding common ground in a room. That sense of musical camaraderie extends beyond their recordings, with the band helping establish No Band Is An Island, a Manchester collective combining performances by local artists with fundraising and community activism.

Their live reputation has grown alongside the acclaim for *It Goes On*, with sold-out shows across the UK and United States demonstrating an appetite for their gloriously scrappy, melodic approach. Australian audiences will now have their first opportunity to experience that energy up close, with three intimate headline performances following their Golden Plains debut.

Having already made a considerable impression on us with It Goes On, Westside Cowboy's arrival is another very welcome addition to what is shaping up to be an extraordinary few weeks for live music in Australia.
