One Street, One Day: Hilltop Hoods and Meg Mac to Play New Townsville Festival

Updated: 17 hours ago

ONE STREET. ONE DAY. 🎤 Townsville’s getting a new street festival to call its own

A brand-new street-style music festival is rolling into North Queensland next month, and Townsville’s about to host a game-changing day of homegrown sound and local pride. Mark your calendars: One Street One Day lands on Saturday 26 July, taking over Rooney Street (Central Park) for a full-blown celebration of Australian music — and the community that champions it.

At the top of the bill? None other than Aussie hip hop trailblazers Hilltop Hoods, who’ll return to Townsville for the first time in years with their signature live firepower. They’re joined by a stacked and eclectic lineup featuring DMA’s, Waxx Lyrical Feature Record alumni and powerhouse soul-pop vocalist Meg Mac, In Hearts Wake, Coterie, Brad Cox, and Mia Wray — with Townsville’s own rising stars also getting their time in the spotlight.

Brought to life by the team at TEG and supported by the Australian and Queensland governments, One Street One Day is designed to bring world-class music events to regional towns — and Townsville gets the honour of launching the whole thing.

“This town knows how to back live music and local talent,” said Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney. “Hosting One Street One Day right in the heart of the city is a huge win for Townsville — we couldn’t be more proud.”

Up to 10,000 music lovers are expected to fill the street for the inaugural event, adding to a blockbuster weekend of cultural happenings across the city — including a Friday night Cowboys home game and chamber music concerts around town.

“It’s been way too long since we last played in Townsville,” said DJ Debris from Hilltop Hoods. “We can’t wait to be part of One Street One Day and reconnect with this warm, welcoming crowd.”

Get ready, Townsville — this one’s shaping up to be more than just a gig. It’s a street party for the ages.
