There are bands you grow up with, and then there are bands that grow with you. For me, NYC's Nada Surf has always been the latter — a spirit band in every sense, especially from 2002's Let Go and on. So it’s a real thrill to have Matthew Caws take the Forever Five baton this week.
Some artists just have a way of seeing the world — and if you’re lucky enough to tune into their frequency, it stays with you. Matthew is one of those people. His Forever Five feels like stepping into a world that’s loose, literate, and quietly electric — records that don't shout for your attention but somehow end up meaning everything. Thoughtful, melodic, a little bent at the edges — just like the philospofical indie masterpieces he’s been writing all along.
